The Peasantry

The peasantry of Medieval Europe included serfs and other laborers.  Serfs could not be bought and sold, but they also could not leave the land they worked without the permission of the nobleman who owned it.

Whether a peasant was a serf or a free laborer, life was hard.  Most of their work involved manual labor.
